harmonic

Most advanced astrologers are familiar with the concept of harmonics as outlined by John Addey, whereby a number of harmonics are calculated for each birth chart. Together with the radix, these provide a deeper and more complete insight regarding the person born, the organization, the city, the company, etc. H4, H7, and H9 are the harmonics that are preferably used. In addition, harmonics, of which the Navamsha (H9) is the most well-known, have been used in Vedic astrology for many years.

Age Harmonics and their applications

Age Harmonics are unique in their application in various fields within astrology. They prove to be an excellent tool for predicting the outcome of political debates, elections, and all kinds of other power struggles. Another application of great practical value is the ability to determine with great accuracy which of two given birth times is the correct one. It happens quite frequently that someone cannot remember whether the mother said that the birth took place at, for example, a quarter to or past seven. In such a situation, drawing various AH horoscopes of important events in that person’s life will lead to the correct birth time. If, during the rectification of the birth time, a time is found with a margin of approximately fifteen minutes, Age Harmonics are an extremely suitable tool for specifying that birth time.

Synastry

Age Harmonics are exceptionally informative within synastry. They provide insight into the interaction between two people, their attitude towards each other, and what occupies them at a specific moment in time. This is done using a double chart consisting of two AH horoscopes for the same time. In particular, the interpretation of mutual conjunctions (from an interchangeable perspective) with an orb of 1 degree or less reveals something about the relationship.

Age Harmonics...a point in Time

Age Harmonics help to further define and delineate important events in one’s life. Due to the richness of aspects, the Age Harmonic horoscope can provide much more information about important moments in a person’s life and the effect on its course. More than a progressive horoscope or a solar chart.

Aspects

The Age Harmonic horoscope is so rich in aspects because there are no boundaries to the position of the planets as is normally the case. Venus and Mercury, for example, are normally always located within 45 degrees of the Sun. With the Age Harmonic, this is not the case: here they can form any aspect with the Sun, including an opposition or a square.
Looking at aspects in this way takes some getting used to. But gradually you will notice how beneficial this can be for the interpretation of the horoscope.

Related to the place of birth

When drawing auxiliary horoscopes such as the Solar or Lunar, use is made of the place where the person born is located at that moment. After many years of research, Dymock Brose has concluded that only the place of birth is relevant when applying this technique.

Time of Birth

With this technique as well, an accurate time of birth is of essential importance for obtaining the best results. Due to the large number of multiplications of all factors, very minuscule time differences are magnified. This disadvantage is simultaneously an advantage, as it is therefore an excellent instrument for adjusting a time of birth in an extremely fine manner. Even if the deviation from the time of birth is not too large, you can extract important information from this horoscope by examining the aspects in particular and ignoring the Houses. If, during the rectification of the time of birth, a time with a margin of approximately fifteen minutes has been found, Age Harmonics are an extremely suitable instrument for refining that time of birth.

The interpretation

You interpret Age Harmonics in the same way you would interpret a Solar chart. First, study the horoscope on its own (without the radix). Usually, this gives you a good picture of the most important matters. Next, combine it with the radix. You will see confirmed in the radix what is contained within the AH. It can happen that, when you place the radix around the AH horoscope, an important radix aspect (hard or smooth) shifts to a particularly important position in the AH horoscope. Planets that form a square aspect in the radix, for example, can end up at an angle (Ascendant or Midheaven) of the horoscope within the AH. These planets are then important indicators in conjunction with what the AH reveals.

Look at aspects with an orb of 1 degree

Conjunctions are the most important in this regard, but even a semi-sextile can be significant, provided the orb is no larger than that one degree.

Planets on the cusp of a House

Planets close to or on the cusp of a House have a strong influence. The most important remain the Planets on the angular points of a horoscope, but the influence on intermediate cusps is also undeniable. AH horoscopes are generally printed with matching Houses. Every Planet on a cusp therefore has a relationship with the Ascendant or the Mc.
According to Dymock Brose, the Porphyrius House System (applied in general) provides the most powerful information regarding a Planet in a House. I personally use Placidus Houses

Generally speaking, it is a matter of assigning the right priority to the Planet(s). You learn which astrological factor is most important and decisive compared to the others by drawing many AH horoscopes of events in your own life. It requires serious thought and is not a matter of acting ‘by chance’. As mentioned earlier, an accurate birth time remains of crucial importance.
